The TikTok Effect

Where Saudi businesses get found

TikTok helps Saudi businesses get found, reach customers and grow, adding significant value to the economy.

SAR 10.7Bn

in gross value added supported across the Saudi economy in 2025 by business activity on TikTok.

52K jobs

supported across the Saudi economy over the same period.

National context

Diversification needs new sectors and stronger skills

Vision 2030 mandates diversification across sectors. Retail, travel and sport are critical pillars of that agenda.

Developing these sectors requires people with the right skills. Small and medium firms also need to play a larger role: they move quickly and often enter new categories first. For diversification to deliver, sector growth, stronger skills and more resilient small businesses must advance together.

Economic contribution

TikTok supporting SAR 10.7 Bn in value added and 52 K jobs

The value reaches the economy through the Saudi businesses that market on the platform, the suppliers they buy from, and the spending of the people employed along that chain.

Exhibit 1

How the value reaches the Saudi economy

Gross value added and jobs supported, by route, 2025.

Direct
SAR 4.05 Bn
29,500 jobs

Created by the advertising businesses themselves.

Indirect
SAR 4.20 Bn
15,400 jobs

Created by their suppliers as those businesses order more.

Induced
SAR 2.42 Bn
7,300 jobs

Created when the people employed along that chain spend their wages.

Total
SAR 10.7 Bn
52,200 jobs

Gross value added across the Saudi economy in 2025.

Gross value added and jobs supported, 2025. Redseer economic impact assessment, February 2026. Value added is linked to business activity on the platform, not created by the platform.

Small and large business

TikTok enabling small businesses beyond their current weight in the economy

Small and medium businesses contributed 22.9% of Saudi GDP in 2024, against a 2030 target of 35%. Of the value added supported on this platform, they account for 41%.

Small and medium businesses
SAR 4.39 Bn
21,100 jobs
41% of value added · 40% of jobs
Large companies
SAR 6.28 Bn
31,100 jobs
59% of value added · 60% of jobs

A large advertiser has other routes to a customer. It has shelf space, a media budget and a brand people already recognise. A small business has none of those, so the same platform is doing more of the work for them.

Redseer economic impact assessment, February 2026. Small and medium businesses use the Monsha’at definition.
